Beste eclecticus,
Zoals je weet ben ik de serie 'After Life' aan het bekijken. De blog gelezen?... De opdracht was om te trachten de vraag 'Waar komt die God vandaan?' volgens Gurdjieff's leerstellingen te beantwoorden. Voor zover ik weet is er tot nog toe - buiten hem - niemand daarin geslaagd.
In elk geval heb ik ondertussen van slechts enkele eclectici een reactie ontvangen... Daarom deze blog, aangevuld met enkele kleine tips, teneinde het luie denken een korte stoot te geven.
Waar komt die godheid vandaan?
Engelen bestaan, en soms moet je tegen kinderen liegen... Tegen volwassenen ook, natuurlijk. Meestal moet je naar hun mond praten om energieslopende argumentaties te vermijden. Ze weten het toch allemaal véél beter, nietwaar? :-)
Enkele aanmoedigende tips:
1) Lees in OZNHW Hfst. 5.
2) About matter and degrees of materiality...
Gurdjieff affirms unambiguously the materialistic character of his teaching: "Everything in the Universe is material: therefore the Great Knowledge is more materialistic than materialism." And he adds: "Everything in this universe can be weighed and measured. The Absolute is as material, as weighable and measurable, as the moon, or as man."
Nor is knowledge for Gurdjieff the only ponderable imponderable; “everything in the Universe is material”: “the Absolute is as material, as weighable and measurable, as the moon, or as man. If the Absolute is God it means that God can be weighed and measured, resolved into component elements, ‘calculated’, and expressed in the form of a definite formula…. Therefore the Great Knowledge is more materialistic than materialism…. I repeat: everything in the Universe is material. Ponder these words and you will understand, at least to some degree, why I used the expression ‘more materialistic than materialism’…. God and microbe are the same system, the only difference is in the number of centres.”
The world, he states, is composed of vibrating matter, the rate of vibration being in inverse ratio to the density of matter. “In the Absolute vibrations are the most rapid and matter is the least dense. In the next world vibrations are slower and matter denser; and further on matter is still more dense and vibrations correspondingly slower.”
The “Absolute” can be called world 1, whose atoms alone are really “indivisible”. Through the intervention of an active, passive, and neutralizing principle, the “Absolute” begets a trinity, or world 3, called “all worlds”, whose atoms consist of three atoms of the “Absolute”, being three times bigger and three times heavier, with movements that are correspondingly slower. Et cetera...
3) Wat verstond Gurdjieff onder 'God'?...
"Niets is onsterfelijk," onderwees hij, "zelfs God is sterfelijk. Maar er is een groot verschil tussen de mens en God, en natuurlijk is God sterfelijk op een andere manier dan de mens. Het zou veel beter zijn als we voor het woord 'onsterfelijkheid' de woorden 'bestaan na de dood' in de plaats zetten".
Om dit idee over te brengen gebruikte hij uitdrukkingen als: “OUR COMMON CREATOR, ALMIGHTY AUTOCRAT ENDLESSNESS” - of: “OUR COMMON ALL-EMBRACING UNI-BEING AUTOCRAT ENDLESSNESS”.
Maar de godheid, die gewoonlijk in kerken en tempels wordt aanbeden, noemde hij "Meneer God". Voor de rest vergeleek hij zijn relatie met God een beetje op dezelfde manier als een nogal onafhankelijke, koppige en lichtgeraakte eerste minister met zijn koning.
Op de vraag: "Waarin verschilt uw systeem van de filosofie van de yogi's?" antwoordde Gurdjieff: "Yogi's zijn idealisten; wij zijn materialisten. Ik ben een scepticus. Het eerste gebod dat op de muren van het Instituut staat is: 'Geloof niets, zelfs jezelf niet.' Ik geloof alleen als ik keer op keer dezelfde resultaten heb verkregen. Ik studeer, ik werk voor begeleiding, niet voor geloof."
4) Denk aan: punt, lijn, vierkant, lichaam, lichamen, et cetera.
5) About Hydrogens: Returning to the law of three, “the note do [in the Absolute] will be the conductor of the active force, designated by the number 1, while the matter in which this force acts will be ‘carbon’ (C).” The note si in turn conducts the passive force, number 2, whose matter is “oxygen” (0). La is then the neutralizing factor, number 3, with “nitrogen” (N) for its matter. Et cetera...
6) Read, for example, Wikipedia's 'Ray of Creation'
The Ray of Creation is an esoteric cosmology which was taught by G. I. Gurdjieff. It is a diagram which better represents the place which Earth occupies in the Universe. The diagram has eight levels, each corresponding to Gurdjieff's Law of Octaves (see In Search of the Miraculous, chapter 7).
Levels: The first level is "The Absolute", followed by "All Worlds", "All Suns", "Sun", "All Planets", "Earth", "Moon", and "The Absolute":
The heaviest/last level - "The Absolute"
Earth's satellite - "The Moon"
Our planet - "Earth"
All of the planets in the solar system to which Earth belongs to - "All Planets"
The planets belong to the "Sun" or the solar system
The Sun belongs to the Milky Way galaxy or the "All Suns" combined
All galaxies put together belong to "All Worlds"
All Worlds form a final whole called "The Absolute"
This lineage indicates and compares the construction of all of the levels, matters, and laws of the Universe, placing them in scale with one another. Et cetera...
7) Uiteindelijk mag je er - ondanks hun tekortkomingen - gerust het Kwantumdenken en de Snaartheorie erbij betrekken...
